Police expect 16000 people to turn out at the utsider Festival at Rothiemurchus over the next three days. Warnings of road chaos and busier than usual trains wet weather and a police plea for revellers to behave themselves have been issued. This exciting event – part of the nine-day festival which runs from July 14-22 throughout Co Down – will see the return of Paul Brady who made such a good impression at the inaugural Celtic Fusion festival six years ago. Recognised as one of Ireland’s leading musicians and songwriters Brady first emerged during the folk and ballad group revival of the 1960s as a member of The Johnstons. His popularity has since grown as has his reputation as a songwriter and performer of the highest quality. Sergeant Hardy Husain of Avon and Somerset Police said 96 crimes had been reported as of 0800 BST on Friday when the music began. He added that the force was trialling new ways of tracking festival thieves – a covert capture tent with a live video link back to police. Tent theft is one of the most prevalent crimes at the festival. Sgt Husain added: “The tent is as much about prevention and deterring criminals as it is about detections. “We are putting the fear of crime back into the criminal.
