“Lust Caution” to vie at Venice Film Festival

All the cast members of the film are expected to attend the festival which begins Aug. Earlier reports said the film would not be the festival’s opening film since post-production work had not been finished. After watching an early un-cut version of the film sources from Taiwan reveal that the festival’s selectors thought “Lust Caution” would turn out to be another milestone work by Ang Lee.

For years Jim and William Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain shared a bedroom at their parents’ house in East Kilbride where familiarity bred hate. “After each tour we wanted to kill each other and after the final tour we tried” Jim told Mojo in 2006. A four-hour meeting of North Somerset Council failed to decide on Thursday whether to allow the event to go ahead and will reconvene on 2 July. Police want a ban on alcohol being brought on to the estate. Bristol City Council has doubts whether the festival organisers have enough money to pay for any damage caused. Avon and Somerset Police also want the right to stop and search festival-goers entering the estate to check for drugs and alcohol.
