The print of the opening night film “Making f” was in South Korea. The young star who was to be an honored guest of the festival was having trouble getting a visa and had already missed his first scheduled event. Then along came another problem. The star Lotfi Abdelli had arrived at San Francisco International Airport only to be detained by authorities for almost five hours.

29 (Xinhuanet) — “Juno” the story of an American teenager dealing with an unplanned pregnancy won the best film award at the Rome Film Festival according to media reports Sunday. Ellen Page (“Hard Candy”) stars in the title role as Juno MacGuff a precocious Minnesota schoolgirl facing an unwelcome pregnancy with supportive parents and friends. Co-starring Jennifer Garner and Jason Batemen the movie was directed by 30-year-old Canadian-born Jason Reitman best known for his 2005 satirical comedy “Thank You For Smoking” which won a string of awards and was nominated for two Golden Globes. Critics praised the performance by Page as Juno the quick-witted young woman plunged into adulthood who tries to find a suitable set of parents to adopt her unborn child. “The film hit the members of the jury with emotion” organizers said.

Suzhou opens Golden Rooster Film Festival

com 10-26-2007 09:06. It opens Wednesday in east China’s Suzhou city. The films selected from more than 70 movies from all over the world are entered in competition for the title of "most popular international film" and a number of other awards at the festival. Candidates include "Pan’s Labyrinth" a Mexico-Spain co-production. It won the Best Picture Award at Cannes in 2006.
