Four-day international film festival from today

According to festival director Manicam Narayanan it is being organised in association with film and television production firm Seventh Channel Communications for the fourth consecutive year. This year it will feature non-commercial films. Nearly 20 films from more than a dozen countries would be screened. Festival organising secretary Mala Manian said the theme this year was environment with special focus on the impact of global warming.
Portuguese food festival

Mohammed Hanish inaugurated a Portuguese food festival organised by the Indo-Portuguese Cultural Institute on the Infant Jesus Church premises here on Monday. The Christmas Tree celebrations which included carols in English Latin and Portuguese was also held along with the food festival. Henry Austin the former Ambassador of India to Portugal; Charles Dias director-general of the institute; and Conrad Dias president of Anglo-Indian Association Ernakulam spoke on the occasion.

The event took place in the capital Baku from December 18 until 20. ——Second Book of the Masnavi translated into RussianTEHRAN — The Second Book of Rumi?s Masnavi has recently been rendered into Russian by Hassan Lahuti. Lahuti is currently translating other volumes of the masterpiece of the Persian poet Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi. After completion the series will be published by the Iranian cultural attaché?s office in Moscow.
