CNTENT>Gudrun Wagner wife of the Bayreuth pera Festival's director and a key figure in the family battle over control of the arts institution that was founded by composer Richard Wagner died Nov. She died unexpectedly at a Bayreuth hospital. No cause of death was given said Peter Emmerich a spokesman for the festival.

Radhakrishnan Udhagamandalam: Located amidst idyllic surroundings the Muthanaad Mund (habitation) of the Toda tribal community near here came alive on Sunday. The occasion was the celebration of the annual festival called ‘Mudparith’ of the Todas who are among the earliest inhabitants of the upper Nilgiri plateau. Since it has for long been considered to be one of their most important festivals hundreds of Todas from about 60 munds in different parts of the district flocked to Muthanaad. Since nearly all of them were wearing their traditional dress including Pootkhuly (embroidered shawl) and exchanging greetings colour and gaiety marked the occasion. All clans attend Pointing out that the annual festival was normally celebrated towards the end of the year the Chieftain of the Toda community Adayal Kuttan told The Hindu that men women and children from all the clans had come even from munds in far away places like Korakundah and Kodanad.
Theatre festival from Wednesday

The plays to be staged at the seven-day festival are expected to be among the best theatre productions in the country in terms of excellence in acting and presentation. According to an official release here on Sunday the festival would provide an opportunity for the theatre entusiasts in Kerala to have a feel of the emerging diverse trends in theatre languages techniques acting and presentation across the country. The staging of the plays would commence at 6.

According to festival director Manicam Narayanan it is being organised in association with film and television production firm Seventh Channel Communications for the fourth consecutive year.
