Vassallo scored 16 points and Virginia Tech beat St. John’s 54-48 last night in the championship game of the Holiday Festival in New York. The Hokies (8-5) were making their first appearance in the tournament but they improved their record at Madison Square Garden to 11-2. had 12 points to lead the Red Storm (6-5) which was looking for its 15th Holiday Festival title in its 43rd appearance in the tournament which started in 1952.

Taking serious note of the shortage of `aravana’ (prasadam) in the first phase the Travancore Devaswom Board had taken necessary steps to ensure that at least 10 cans of the prasadam would be made available to each devotee. Sudhakaran said the Devaswom had earned nearly Rs 52 crore as revenue in this season which was less by Rs 2.

Launching its 32nd season with the celebration of a $6 million renovation of Memminger Auditorium the 2008 Spoleto Festival USA will stage the largest number of productions since its founding in 1977. 8 million budget the festival will be held May 23-June 8 and will feature 45 productions in a program of 140 performances including opera theater dance classical music and jazz.

com LNDN December 30 (IranMania) – The 23rd edition of Fajr International Music Festival has concluded with the announcement of winning musicians in various categories PressTV reported. Tehran’s Majlesi rchestra the Rojan Ensemble of Sanandaj and the Javan Ensemble from Tehran gained first to third places of the traditional category respectively. Trio Piano conducted by Mohammad-Reza Safi the Pasargad Chorus ran by Amir-Abbas Hosseini and the Aria Chorus conducted by Hengameh Azimi were announced first to third of the event in the classic category. According to the jury no group or ensemble has been qualified for the first place of the pop segment of the festival. The Aksan Ensemble conducted by Behrang Baharzadeh and rkideh ran by rkideh Hajivand were granted second and third places.
