About 50000 people participate in Thaipusam festival

Many took part in a 4. 5 kilometre march from the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple along Serangoon Road to the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road. rganisers said some 7500 devotees will be carrying milk pots and at least 400 others will carry the “spike and chariot” kavadis which will be offered to Lord Murugan at the end of their walk. Devotees undertake this walk to fulfil their vows to give thanks for favours asked or to seek help to avert a calamity.

The extended holiday mood that prevailed for four days from January 12 to 15 had the pollution levels dropping drastically as the city streets wore a near deserted look. Underscoring the direct correlation between increase in number of vehicles and the rise in pollution almost all the parameters plummeted to safe levels during these four days. However the moment offices and educational institutions reopened the pollution parameter recordings started to claw their way past the accepted standard levels.

Born in 1944 Masumi is a graduate of English language from Melli University and has played in several movies and TV series including ?The Crow? and ?Toranj?. Jozani was born in 1948 and studied filmmaking at the University of San Francisco.
