The legendary soul star was greeted by jeering at the 2008 Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival after organizers told the audience that “to honor Miss Ross’ wishes she will not be shown on the monitors. Many in the large crowd were unable to see Ross who was reportedly paid $300000 for the concert which also featured stars including Mary Mary and Billy cean. They continued to boo throughout her set. Festival spokesperson Carlette DeLeon says “The much-anticipated performance of Diana Ross on Saturday proved somewhat disappointing to many patrons who expected a very interactive set.

Sun which will premiere in China on September 21 tells a magical love story. The cast includes Jiang himself Joan Chen Anthony Wong and Jackie Chan’s son Jaycee Chan.

Migrant workers advised to stay in cities for Spring Festival

“Authorities shall persuade migrant workers to postpone homebound journeys and strive to keep more than 65 percent of them in Guangdong during the festival” said a circular issued by the Department of Labor and Social Security in Guangdong a southern province with 30 million migrant workers. As part of the effort the Guangzhou Federation of Trade Unions in this provincial capital has prepared 50 free movie shows for migrants who choose to stay. It also invited 3000 workers to an evening party along the Zhujiang River during the festival which falls on February 7. “We would try to bring festive warmth to make them feel good although they are not with their families” said federation official Yi Lihua.

Bad weather hits Spring Festival travel

Now forecasters have issued a red alert — the highest on the scale. Forecasters say there is no end in sight to the disastrous weather. The snow has been sweeping the central eastern and southwestern parts of China since mid January. This has paralyzed air rail and highway traffic and left tens of thousands of passengers stranded during the pre-holiday travel peak.

He commented that the organizers want to draw on the strengths of the first edition and avoid the obstacles they encountered the first time round. He went on to say ?The good points of the festival this year are the special attention that is going to be given to the works of young people and the fact that there will be a greater number of participants coming from a larger range of provinces. ?Parviz also remarked that the festival?s policy-making council has taken advice from poetry experts with regards to the setting up of the event. He requested that any association or organization which would like to donate a special prize for the winners of the festival should prepare their awards and submit them to the culture ministry.

‘Talents of the Desert Festival’ to Deal With Theatrical Arts

Maha Al-Juffali director of Help Center and managing member of the board of trustees explained that the festival included talent competitions in which people with special needs have been invited to submit their work in any one of the following categories: drama dancing music poetry literary works fine arts (painting) photography and production of short movies. The festival is organized by VSA Arts-KSA a voluntary non-profit organization and the official representatives in Saudi Arabia of the Washington-based VSA Arts International an affiliate of the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts which has 66 representative offices around the world. The festival will deal with all aspects of visual and theatrical arts including poetry plays and acting in addition to art shows and workshops. It will host artists from various regions of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
