Thinning crowds and a tight budget have forced the annual German heritage celebration — a St. Louis tradition for the better part of 35 years — to take a "hiatus" organizers said Thursday. "Strassenfest was a money-loser last year and the year before" said Pete Littlefield who sits on the festival’s board.
