The music and the technology. The US Festival 25 years ago this Memorial Day weekend at Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore was about all of that and much much more. The 1983 festival which was the more newsworthy followup to the first US Festival eight months earlier seems to carry a certain magic appeal to it to this day. It’s been called the birthplace of "The Creative Class" where "geek" became cool and the second Woodstock. Motley Crue’s Vince Neil said "new wave died and rock ‘n’ roll took over" during the festival. Story continues below.

According to Hollywood filmtrade magazine Variety even movie transactions were very few as compared tothe previous years. Themagazine quoted Marche du Film director general Jarome Paillard as saying thatthe transactions were slow and the market ‘sober’ although the number of filmsin the festival was up thisyear. According to Paillardthe attendance at the Cannes festival which had increased 40 percent during2003-2007 saw an increase of only 2 percent this year. Most were looking forfinances for their movies rather than buying orselling. “Too much financingcreated an insane number of films but ultimately the buyer’s pick and choose”a festival executive told Variety. getElementById(“storydiv”).
First international video festival of Kerala begins

The film titled “Remembrance of things present” by Chandra Siddan is among the 200 films to be screened at the five-day festival. Full-length documentaries to be screened at the festival included “I am very beautiful” (Shyamal Karmakar) and “How to celebrate freedom” by Sanjay Kak. A package of experimental avant garde films titled “Experimenta” will also be screened during the festival. The production of films demonstrated that it did not take much more than a digital camera and a fertile mind to give life to a film Academy sources said.
