22Thrissur (PTI): A ten-day long International Theatre Festival of Kerala would commence here on December 22 Kerala Sahithya Nataka Academi Chairman and prominent actor Murali said here on Saturday. The festival is jointly organised by the Cultural Department KSNA Murali told reporters here. Six drama troupes from Nepal Pakistan China Iran Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would be staging “Agniko Katha” “Bullha” “Lotus Lantern” “The monkey king” “The Intoxicated Noble Concubine” and “Lian Jin Feng” “Jacosta” “Rarang” and “Sinhabahu” respectively. In all about 120 foreign artists would be participating in the event he added. In addition four Indian plays like “Paari Padukalam “(tamil) “Aatmahathya” (marathi) “Duhsamay” (bengali) and “Mudrarakashasam” (malayalam) would also be staged as part of the festival.

Bay Shore to host a winter festival

The town received $23000 in corporate donations for the festival and used $16000 in parks department funds to help purchase a portable skating rink. The town also acquired a snow machine. Nolan said he hopes to take the rink on the road hosting “Winter by the Bay” in a different hamlet each year. Cablevision which owns Newsday is the festival’s primary sponsor. The Rinx of Hauppauge will provide skates and Zamboni shavings which will be piled into a sledding mound dubbed “Peppermint Hill.
