Got art? It’s time to enter Y-Bridge Arts Festival

Deadline for entries is Jan. 1 and about 55 artists will be accepted due to space limitations. Artists seeking to enter the festival need to submit samples of their work to committee members soon. “Artist can start out the New Year with the festival in their plans and I can’t think of a better way to get their art seen. It’s a unique setting (the Y Bridge) there’s no other place like it in the world. I wanted this to be a local venue for local artist” said Linda Regula event organizer. While the festival does not begin until Aug.

Festival of Lights begins at sundown

Hanukkah the Jewish Festival of Lights begins at sundown on Sunday and lasts eight days. A festival of religious freedom and national survival Hanukkah commemorates the Jewish Maccabees' military victory over the Greek-Syrians more than 2000 years ago and the rededication of the Second Temple which had been desecrated.

He is also the first artist to receive awards in two different categories according to Darryl Macdonald executive director at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Penn will receive the award at the film festival gala on Jan. 6 for his performance in “Milk” as Harvey Milk the first openly gay man to serve as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Milk was assassinated in 1978.

Car Crashes Into NY Hanukkah Festival Sending 14 To Hospital

About 100 people were attending the children’s Hanukkah party on Long Island that had been organized by Chabad of Five Towns. The 76-year-old driver was among the injured his BMW X3 hit a parked car before plowing into the storefront. Nassau County police reportedly say the driver made a claim of losing control of his vehicle after something went wrong with the accelerator. Some of those injured suffered severe injuries the youngest victim was an 18-month-old.
