SATTER – 14 hours ago LONDON (AP) — Claudio Abbado’s term at the helm of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra has been extended for another four years the Italian conductor said Thursday. Abbado who has suffered from medical problems will stay on as musical director of the Swiss festival’s orchestra until the end of 2014 artistic director Michael Haefliger added. “I’ve known many of the soloists for years; they’re my lifelong musical companions” said Abbado 75. “We still have lots of ongoing projects. “Abbado has been gathering musicians to open the annual Lucerne Festival since 2003.

Organizers of the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival announced Wednesday that they are moving the event from a state park near Lawrence Kan. where the festival has been for the past five years to the Mulberry Mountain Lodging and Events resort 16 miles north of Ozark off Arkansas 23 also known as the Pig Trail. The festival at the 650-acre resort is scheduled June 4-7. Festival promoter Brett Mosiman said he expects 10000-12000 people from across the country and overseas to attend the festival at what he hopes will be its permanent home.
