In October the group raised $1001 for the Susan G. Komen foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer during the Sewing Seeds of Hope Quilt Show. The women were at it again raising $1100 at the annual Festival of Trees to buy presents for children on the church’s Angel Tree and to purchase food for the Christmas boxes. “We were really excited” said event organizer Fern McFarland. Last year the event brought in $900 to help create a Christmas for 101 children and their families. The Angel Tree is filled with children in need. A person picks out an Angel buys a gift and returns the gift or gifts in Christmas sacks to be given to the child in the upcoming weeks.
