The changes represent the latest shake-up in a volatile year forthe festival which saw its founder and president step down itsname changed and the composition of the festival take on a moreItalian flavor after a new political party took over the Romemayor’s office for the first time in a generation. The appointment of Detassis who took a more central role in thefestival’s 2008 edition officially does away with the event’soriginal structure in which five co-directors headed varioussections. f the original five only two remain. In addition to DetassisMario Sesti will continue to head the innovative “L’Altro Cinema”section previously known as the “Extra” sidebar.

Actress Kate Winslet won two of the awards one for best actress in the film Revolutionary Road and one for the best supporting role in The Reader. Mickey Rourke was named best actor for his role as a sidetracked sportsman in the film The Wrestler. Director Steven Spielberg won a Golden Globe for his entire oeuvre.
Monterey Jazz Festival Announces New Staff Changes

Monterey CA — The Monterey Jazz Festival has announced that David Murray the Festival´s longtime Production Manager will assume the new role of Artist Liaison. Bill Wagner the Festival´s Artist Transportation Manager has been named Mr. Murray´s replacement as Production Manager. Both of these changes are effective immediately.
