Kanye West won a Brit award at this year’s ceremomy
rganisers said the Gold Digger star who is set to play Sunday “will make this show undoubtedly one of the finest performances seen in Hyde Park”. Dizzee Rascal The Streets Paul akenfold and Basement Jaxx will also be performing at the two-day event. Tickets for the event on 4-5 July go on sale on Friday from 0900 GMT. Fellow rapper Jay-Z headlined the festival last year.

NEA gives $20000 to Reno’s Artown festival

tmpl –>(03-23) 16:48 PDT Reno Nev. (AP) –The National Endowment for the Arts has approved a $20000 grant for Reno’s annual Artown festival that runs the entire month of July. Artown Executive Director Beth Macmillan says it is the biggest grant the festival has ever received from the NEA. Last year it received $15000. Macmillan says the grant announced Monday comes at an important time because funding for the arts is threatened throughout the country due to the sour economy. She says the NEA recognizes that Artown strives to present “thought-provoking diverse and accessible artistic offerings.
DC Cherry Blossom Festival soon in bloom

The National Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off March 28 and runs through April 12 with more than a million visitors expected to stroll through the 3700 cherry trees that circle Washington’s Tidal Basin and participate in a slew of festival events. Highlights of the celebration include a chance to explore a floating tea house and design your own kirigami structure—which is made of cut paper—as well as see a performance by Japanese sensation and Pittsburgh native Jerome White Jr. White known as Jero in Japan sings “enka” which he has likened to traditional Japanese blues.

Geoff Gilmore the head of the Sundance Film Festival left Robert Redford’s festival last month to work for another actor of a certain age: Gilmore’s now the chief creative officer at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Enterprises the parent company of the Tribeca Film Festival. The head Sundance festival programmer John Cooper was elevated into Gilmore’s job early this month. A day later Rebecca Yeldham herself a former Sundance programmer moved in to oversee the Los Angeles Film Festival which had lost its director Richard Raddon in November. Kent Jones the associate director of programming at New York’s Film Society of Lincoln Center left his position earlier this month too.
