David Byrne to pen Brooklyn Festival

Byrne who is on a world tour called “Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno” will play the concert after the festival’s Green Gala held annually by the nonprofit arts organization BRIC Arts to support free summer performances in Prospect Park and promote environmentally friendly activities. The concert is scheduled for 8 p. and admission is free though a $3 donation is suggested. The festival will announce its full lineup on May 4.

University tries to curb pot festival

April 7 (UPI) — The University of California at Santa Cruz is seeking parental help to stop its unofficial annual marijuana festival. University officials have asked parents of all freshmen in an e-mail to talk to their sons and daughters about drugs the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported Tuesday. Felicia McGinty vice chancellor of student affairs also said the university will ban overnight guests from Friday April 18 to Monday April 20 the day the festival usually takes place. Many of the participants have been university students but a lot have come from off campus.

Chandler Jazz Festival draws some 15000

7 2009 08:24 AM The Arizona Republic From the quality of the music to the size of the crowds the 2009 Chandler Jazz Festival is being called one of the best in the 10-year history of the event by its organizers. An estimated 15000 people came to downtown Chandler for the two-day festival. That number includes not only the people who visited the main performance stage but those who patronized downtown restaurants and businesses during the festival. While that number was about 5000 less than the 2008 estimate this year’s show only lasted two days as there were no Sunday performances.

Dogwood Festival to celebrate “The Simple Life”
