Saturday at the Pleasanton Senior Center 5353 Sunol Blvd. The two-day event features keynote speaker Dana Gioia a poet and critic; workshops; poetry and prose contests; art exhibit; and book signing. Workshops ranging from how to write poetry to how to write and sell fiction will be offered.
BHS grad wins prize at Wisconsin Film Festival

The 34-year-old Burlington High School grad has a 4-minute short film he shot for school that will be shown during this weekend’s Wisconsin Film Festival in Madison. The film won a prize in the festival’s “Wisconsin’s wn” category. The festival opened Thursday and runs through Sunday. Wiersgalla a 1993 BHS graduate entered his film “Beelin. ’” It is a “no budget” film he shot in Hayward Wis.
